I am a wife and a mom who has become a recent empty nester. I swam competitive growing up and enjoyed competing / training and friends I made. When I got married my husband and I bought mountain bikes to has a hobby to do together since he was not a swimmer and tennis was not for me. My daughter saw us biking together and wanted a bike too so it became a family thing. We encourage her to play outside and try activities, she tried soccer but then fell in love with swimming and then joined the XC team in middle school. I enjoyed helping out with both and I started running not fast but steady. I felt that if she is doing these activities it is important to see her parents doing them also so when she looks back in life knowing her parents are involved with her and do things for themselves. Then my daughter tried a kids tri and enjoyed them, I had always wanted to do one since a had a college professor doing them, how cool is that.. So my daughter can tri I will too I have done several but them got injured and my daughter got busy. I am slowly finding myself again and trying to do get back to training and juggling a job that requires traveling. I love my friends I have made over the years in the tri community and how positive and encouraging people can be. I love it. I am looking to rebuild my competitive self and encouraging others.
